IWR1443: How to change the TCMA RAM space for IWR1443

Part Number: IWR1443

Hi team,

The customer would like to change the TCMA RAM space for IWR1443 when he uses CCS7.0 to develop IWR1443.

Would you please explain how to modify the registers to change the TCMA RAM space?

Best Wishes,

  • Mickey,

Section "9.1 DSS_L3 Memory Organization for 14xx" in the 16xx/14xx TRM doc (www.ti.com/.../swru522a.pdf) describes the {DSS/TCMA/TCMB}MEMBANKEN and {DSS/TCMA/TCMB}MEMTAB0 registers which control the partitioning of the shared L3_RAM to potentially extend the size of the TCMA and TCMB memories. Was the customer looking for more information than is provided in that section?

    Regards,
    John
  • Section "3.5.2 ROM Eclipsing" in the TRM is also useful and is highlighted in the following E2E post.

  • Hi John,

Thanks for your help. The customer would like to finish  changing the TCMA, TCMB, DSS_L3 memory size

before he loads the FLASH program code. If he configures the registers to changes the TCMA, TCMB, DSS_L3

memory size after he loads the FLASH program code, the IWR1443 device will not be worked when

one part of the memory usage exceeds the original setting.

Is there any solution to configures the registers to changes the TCMA, TCMB, DSS_L3

memory size before he loads the FLASH program code?

  • Mickey,

I am checking with our software team and some other Applications engineers who have looked at this before to see what solutions are available.  Which version of the mmWave SDK is the customer using? (it may affect the solution)

    Regards,
    John

  • The version of the mmWave SDK the mmWave SDK that we use is mmwave_sdk_01_01_00_02
  • Due to the way the boot ROM inside the current IWR1443 sensor configures the device during boot, increasing the TCMA memory size is not supported in the current IWR1443 ES2.0 silicon revision (or previous IWR1443 ES1.0 silicon revision). That feature is planned to be supported in a future silicon revision.

  • Thank you!
    I see.
