TMP431: ALERT and Low limit settings in STANDARD BINARY MODE

Part Number: TMP431
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMP461, TMP451Hello
Does the ALERT be activated when Low Limit (high byte) is set to 00h under 0 Celsius degree in STANDARD BINARY mode?
Our customer don't want TMP431 to active ALERT in that case.
Please tell me how to set that the TMP431 does not activate ALERT when the temperature is under 0 Celsius degree.
Regards,
  • Hi Kazuto-san,

Is it acceptable to disable ALERT using MASK function? See other post. e2e.ti.com/.../689422

Otherwise, it's not possible to enter a negative temperature limit while using Standard Binary Mode. This is intentional to be compatible with competitor's devices.

TMP431 may not be the best solution for this application. Can you share more information about the application?

What type of remote junction is the customer using? TMP431 features Beta Correction for use with small geometry digital processes <45nm. If this feature is not needed, I would recommend TMP451, TMP461.

    Thanks,
    Ren
  • Hello Ren,

Thank you for giving the information.
The customer wants to raise an ALERT when the diode inside LSI is over 100 Celsius degree.
The other suggested solution is helpful but the customer can't change the temperature sensor IC.
In addition, I'd like to refer the exist post about MASK function.

    Best Regards,
    Kazuto Tatsumi
