IWR1642: IWR1642 pplcount gui for 30m config ...IWR1642 ES1.0 hardware

Part Number: IWR1642

Hi,

My IWR1642 hardware version is "ES1.0", it must load image Traffic Monitoring Demo Sftware onto the device

but "mmwave_isdustrial_toolbox_2_4_0/labs/lab0013_traffic_monitoring_16xx/prebuilt_binaries/traffic_monitoring_16xx_lab.bin" can't load in ES1.0 hardware,

So ,

Q1.Can I use  mmwave_isdustrial_toolbox_2_3_0 image(Traffic Monitoring Demo Sftware), then run pplcount_gui.exe ,selet Outdoor30m.cfg to test long range outdoor (30 M) test ?

Q2.I had see Outdoor30m.cfg add new parameter comRangeBiasAndRxChanPhase , the parameter can be used in (ES1.0 handware& mmwave_isdustrial_toolbox_2_3_0 image(Traffic Monitoring Demo Sftware)) ?

Thanks

/Melvin

    Hello Melvin,

RE Q1) The traffic monitoring demo in Industrial Toolbox version 2.3.0 is compatible with ES1.0. To download a previous version please follow the directions on the Resource Explorer landing page linked here (scroll to the bottom):

Q2) You can try the gui for traffic monitoring. Just load your outdoor30m.cfg using that GUI. The ppl count gui will not work with the TM binaries. The compensation is not new and can be used with the TM software.

    Thanks,

    Amanda

  • Hi,

About Q2)The ppl count gui will not work with the TM binaries? but I see your document People Tracking and Counting Application ,Outdoor30m.cfg is Chrip 5,Load the Traffic Monitoring Demo Software is mean? the TM binaries or ....others ? below is copy from your document.

    http://dev.ti.com/tirex/#/?link=Software%2FmmWave%20Sensors%2FIndustrial%20Toolbox%2FChirp%20Database%2FPeople%20Tracking%20and%20Counting%20Application

Step 3: People Tracking and Counting Demo Configuration File

After the chirp configuration for the particular range, range resolution, velocity, and velocity resolution is arrived at, the tracker customization/tuning needs to be done. For more details on the customization, please refer to the People counting customization guide.

Given below are five example chirp configurations designed and tuned for the environments like Conference room, Office space with Cubicles and aisles, elevators, a hall-way, and outdoors. Each configuration has had Scenery parameter changes to properly define the environment. Other parameters, such as the cumulative SNR threshold and the point threshold,  have been tuned to better detect people based on the characteristics of the expected point cloud in the target environment. These would enable customers to get to the desired demo very quickly. However, these may still require tuning for optimal performance in your environment.

Chirps 1 through 4 will work properly with the People Counting demo.  You can browse and select these configurations when the People Counting Setup GUI is started.  Chirp 5 must be used differently:

    1. Load the Traffic Monitoring Demo Software onto the device.
    2. Use the People Counting GUI to interface with the device.
    3. Load the Long Range Outdoor confg
    4. Launch the Demo Visualizer

    Another question,

Q: My Hardware is IWR1642 ES1.0 ver. , if i want to thet the Outdoor30m.cfg,how can I do?

         1.Load Traffic Monitoring Demo Software,(mmwave_industrial_toolbox_2_3_0\labs\lab0013_traffic_monitoring_16xx\prebuilt_binaries\traffic_monitoring_16xx_lab.bin

2.Run People Counting GUI (Ti mmwave\mmwave_industrial_toolbox_2_3_0\labs\lab0011-pplcount\lab0011_pplcount_quickstart\pplcount_gui.exe)

         3 Select Outdoor30m.cfg

         4. Launch the Demo Visualizer.

Or I must buy ES2.0 Hardware?

    Thanks.

    Hello Melvin,

The long range chirp configuration has been updated for a range of 50m and to be compatible with the Traffic Monitoring Demo software. Please use the updated version and the steps as described.
