AWR1642BOOST: Radar Studio "Matlab Engine couldn't be Started"

I have this exact same error when I run the DCA1000 connected to the IWR1642BOOST. I am running mmwave_studio_01_00_00_00_win32 though. I have the specified 32 bit version of matlab installed(MCR_R2015aSP1_win32_installer). I don't have the HSDC installed as I'm not supposed to need that with the DAC1000. I have reinstalled both studio and matlab with no effect.

I can connect to the boards successfully, but I can't get data as all access to Matlab fail.

How do I fix this?

Yes, a very old Matlab 7.04 I think. It is in a totally different directory.

Any ideas? Does the DAC1000 and Radar Studio work with matlab or am I on my own to make it work?

Dan,

Try and uninstall all old versions of the MATLAB runtime and ensure that 8.5.1 (32-bit) MATLAB runtime is the one that is installed.

I don't have an old version of the matlab runtime. I have the full blown version of matlab7.04. I also can't permanently uninstall it as I use it very often.
I uninstalled it on my W10 laptop. The uninstall failed. Matlab still appears to run, but of course it may fail doing something later.
After this, I can start up the DCA1000 successfully.

How do I still use matlab and your demo at the same time? Looking at the mathworks web site, it appears that you may only be able to run the same mathcad version as the runtime. That means that everyone would have to only run R2015aSP1 and nothing else.

Is there a registry setting that I can change?

Hello Dan,

You need to install Matlab Runtime 8.5.1. Next, ensure that this is your first system variable in you Path system variables.

Hi Adrian,
The problem was that the path wasn't set at all in W7. I had to add "C:\Program Files (x86)\MATLAB\MATLAB Runtime\v851\runtime\win32" to my path. Then it worked. I didn't have to uninstall matlab either.
