IWR1642BOOST: a very clear signal is always Observed at 0 Hz,

Part Number: IWR1642BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH, MMWAVE-SDK, IWR1642

Hi all,

I am trying to perform the demo 'High Accuracy Range Measurement – 16xx' of Industrial Toolbox following the instructions. I finished every steps before the last step such as installing driver and using Uniflash to load image onto the board. I repeat the step following the guidance several times. Everytime I do the last step of the lab, the GUI shows nothing.

I used the 1642BOOST to perform 'mmWave Demo Visualizer' well, a few weeks ago. but now i meet the similar situation that nothing  is displayed in the  GUI. I have been using the board well with mmWave Dev-Pack and TSW1400 in recent weeks and now.

I include a picture  captured during lab.

the picture above shows that serial port have been connected. I know when i click load config, if serial port is not set properly, there will be a red popup show me that my setting is not proper. and if everything is good, the GUI will show something like parameter of detected objects. But the problem is there is no news even a bad news in the GUI.

I clicked on the the connection icon to reconnect and load config again, but the situation is not better.

I want to know how to fix it up.

  • Have you tried pressing the reset button before re-run the test?

Another check is the version, what board version? Does it say ES2.0 on the top of EVM? What toobox version was used?

    Thanks and Regards,

    Michelle

  • Hi Michelle

Have you tried pressing the reset button before re-run the test?  I have tries NRST button but it didn't work.

I used mmwave_industrial_toolbox_2_5_0, and where can i  check is my  board version and EVM version?

    Thanks,

  • my SKD version is mmwave_sdk_01_02_00_05, but I still can't find where the EVM version is.

  • Hi Michelle,

I upgrade my mmwave-SDK from 1.2 to 2.0, and repeat the lab several times. it still doesn't work. However I notice some issues that may have been missed before.

1.after pressing the reset button, displaying of the bottom status bar change from

    to

    or

     .

    2. Occasionally,  the console  message display something but just occasionally. Even more, the information is always some fragments and error.

3.When i check version information by navigating Help → About, most of the time it will display as following figure:

  • Hi

For toolbox 2.5, if you check the release notes of high accuracy lab 16xx, you will see:
    Supports mmWave SDK 2.0.0.0 (IWR1642 EVM ES2.0)

That means you need to have IWR1642 ES2.0. Then if you check the lab user guide front page:
These EVMs are marked with a sticker which says"ES2.0"

So if you don't see any sticker with "ES2.0" on your EVM, you are having a ES1.0. This toolbox and 16xx lab within do not work on your board.

The version information is also available directly on ti.com/tires website. On the left side, select software>mmwave traing v..> labs, it directs to the page called "Learn more through mmwave labs" where the lab name/version with supported platform and SDK listed.

You can access the earlier SDK version or toolbox version for your platform.

As to the reset, after you did reset, you can click the left corner connect sign of visualizer, it'll become disconnected. press one more time, it's then connected back to the port setting you had before.

    Regards,
    Michelle
  • eh.........thank you,I will try it later. Why is your company developing ES2.0? What are the defects of the ES1.0. Namely, What's improvements to the second generation of products?

  • So, are SDK 2.0 and Toolbox not compatible with ES1.0?

    Regards,
    1km
  • SDK 2.0 is Not for IWR1642 ES 1.0. Please always check release notes for compatibility.
