Hello,

I am not getting the exact count in the people counting demo, sometimes it shows the correct value of the number of the people present but at times the wrong value.

1) Does this device count objects as well?

2) How to convert the point cloud data into any other format..? Do we get any file with the point cloud information that can be saved and converted?

Hi Sharon,

1) This demo will only detect moving objects. This is by design to try to filter out false detection. There is also a tuning guide available to help with false positive mitigation.

2) Pressing the exit button in the bottom left of the GUI will print the last 10000 frames of data to a .mat file. If you have a Matlab license, you can view the data. Otherwise, you can write a script to capture the data. The data format is described here, in the "Data Format" section.

Hi Sharon,

The file will be stored in the folder with the GUI Matlab (.m) files. It will be called fHistRT.mat.

Hi Sharon,

If you open this file in Matlab, there will be a struct that appears called fhist -> open this struct and examine its contents. Importantly, you will find a Point Cloud column, and a target list column.
Point cloud format is Row 1: Range, Row 2: angle, Row 3: Velocity, Row 4: SNR.
Targetlist contains data about the tracked targets.

Hello Justin,

I am not getting the precise output. The count value keeps changing. We tested it with 3 people today , but the count kept fluctuating between 3-7 and was not exact. There was no other moving objects in the line of sight of the sensor.

Please look at our Customization guide. See the first section, called "Common Demo Customization". There is a subsection called "Too many detections". Attempt these steps to properly tune your demo.

Hi Sharon,

All commands discussed in the document are in the .cfg file that is uploaded using the GUI. This includes trackingCfg and all the Param commands. You can find examples of other configuration files (with all parameter commands) in <INDUSTRIAL_TOOLBOX_VERSION>\chirps\images\People+Tracking+and+Counting+Application\ Each command is described near the end of the customization guide.

Hi Sharon,

ES2.0 is a newer version of the device with some hardware changes. Notably, ES2.0 devices only run in low power mode. As far as performance is concerned, besides less power use, there should be no differences. The antennas are the same on ES2.0 and ES1.0 boards, so the range and Field of View will be identical.

Hi Sharon,

The SDKs have the same functionality, but some functions have been renamed, so when porting software you will have to make some changes to SDK function calls.

Hello Justin,

According to the instructions in the guide, I changed the values to remove false detection and still able to view false detection and ghost scenarios on the viewer. I have attached the .cfg file, please let me know if my parameters are set right. In the mentioned .cfg file I am not able to find State Transition Parameters, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Is there any other option to get a technical support other than E2E forum? Will I be able to talk to a product engineer ? As we are running short of time, it would be of great help to sort this out and get the desired output as soon as possible. Hoping to hear from you soon.
