IWR1642BOOST: Is or not board defective?

Part Number: IWR1642BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1642

Well!
Something strange discovered. I had many IWR1642Boost and I was testing with only one board. Surprisingly, It's working without any problem with other boards. So I am assuming that there is something wrong in the IWR1642Boost itself.
And people count demo is working fine with this board.

So the question is here that why Vital is not working and People Count is working if the board is defective? If the board is not defective then it should run both examples. Another board is running both examples fine.

  • Laxmi,

You would need to check which version of silicon that your IWR1642 device is. Please search this forum to understand how to identify which silicon version your device is. If you have an ES 2.0 silicon device, then the vital signs demo will not work as the current version of the vital signs demo is based on SDK 1.1. ES 2.0 devices require projects based on SDK 2.0.0.4 and higher. This is most likely of causes.

  • Thanks Kyle for your suggestions.

I have noticed something very strange and kind of weird too. I have two boards, let's say Board A and B, and trying to test Vital Sign and People count. Both boards are ES 2.0 and bought together. I am running SDK 2.0 with the latest toolbox.

Board A is working fine for Vital Sign and it is not working for People count. However, Board B is working fine for People count but not for the vital sign. I have the same settings, SDK, the toolbox for both boards but boards are running only a specific kind of project.

    Any suggestions do you have?

  • Laxmi,

If you are able to run the Vital Signs Demo on one of your boards, then it is an ES 1.0 silicon device. Per the documentation provided in the lab, the Vital Signs Demo is supported by SDK 1.1 and is currently not compatible with SDK 2.0.

Please search through this forum to understand how to identify which revision of silicon you have on your boards. You will need to be able to read the device markings.

You need to identify which silicon version you have on your two devices and then download the corresponding SDK releases and toolbox versions.

    Regards,
    Kyle
