CCS/AWR1642BOOST: Error Importing Project to IDE, Device Not Recognized

Part Number: AWR1642BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1642, , IWR1642, IWR1642BOOST,

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

When I attempt to import the AWR1642 Obstacle detection project  from CCS Version: 8.1.0.00011 , using the  import Project wizard  from the following location:

 C:\ti\mmwave_automotive_toolbox_2_4_2\labs\lab0002_short_range_radar\src

I get the following error:

See details below.
Error: Device is either 'null' or is currently not recognized by CCS. See 'Help > Check for Updates' or visit CCS App Center to get the latest device support.
Error: Device is either 'null' or is currently not recognized by CCS. See 'Help > Check for Updates' or visit CCS App Center to get the latest device support.

When I attempt to download the project from the Resource Explorer within Code Composer Studio I get the following error for both the DSS and MSS projects:

Error importing project. Device-id "AWR1642" is not recognized!

I've followed the guidelines listed in the document here:

http://localhost:53797/content/c:/ti/mmwave_automotive_toolbox_2_4_2/labs/lab0004_obstacle_detection/docs/obstacle_detection_user_guide.html

and I have all the SW listed as specified.

Please Note: I've been able to use the Short Range Radar Demo PCGUI, but I' also unable to download that project.

Any Suggestions?

  • Correction to the file location listed above:

    C:\ti\mmwave_automotive_toolbox_2_4_2\labs\lab0004_obstacle_detection
  • Hi Matt,

The Obstacle Detection Sensor (ODS) lab (mmwave_automotive_toolbox_2_4_2\labs\lab0004_obstacle_detection) only supports the AWR1642BOOST-ODS EVM and will not work properly with the IWR1642BOOST EVM (they have different antenna designs). However, that lab is essentially just the mmWave SDK mmw (out-of-box) demo for that board. You can find the mmWave SDK mmw (out-of-box) demo for IWR1642 at the following link.

  • Hi John,

Sorry, I've accidentally mis-labelled the Boost unit I'm using. I'm actually using an AWR1642Boost. I am unfamiliar with how to change that in this thread....

I'm trying to build a mmwave project for the AWR1642Boost. I'd like to be able to compile the Short range radar project, but I get the above error when I attempt to import it into CCS 8.1.0.00011

    Thanks for your assistance,

    Matt
  • Matt,

I changed the title and tags of the thread to show AWR1642BOOST.

Just to clarify, the lab path you mentioned previously (mmwave_automotive_toolbox_2_4_2\labs\lab0004_obstacle_detection) is the Obstacle Detection Sensor (ODS) lab and will only work with the ODS version of the EVM (AWR1642BOOST-ODS).  If you actually want the Short Range Radar lab which supports the normal AWR1642BOOST EVM then it is located at:

    C:\ti\<automotive_toolbox_install_dir>\labs\lab0002_short_range_radar

Can you confirm which version of the board you have?

    Regards,
    John

  • Matt,

Are you able to download the automotive toolbox zip file from the TI Resource Explorer page?

    thank you

    cesar

  • Matt,

Did you also make sure to install the drivers for the mmWave Sensor devices in CCS? If not, you can do so by performing the following steps:

    1. Help -> Install New Software
    2. "Work With" -> "--All Available Sites--"
    3. select "mmWave Radar Device support"
    4. select "Next"
    5. Follow the on-screen steps to complete the installation of these drivers.

    Regards,
    Kyle
