Is there any mechanism by which we can measure Water level in existing borewell?

In borewells the diameter of the pipe could be very narrow and there will be reflections from the pipe. The measurement on water level would depend more on the transducers. Please check for a transducer which can accurately transmit & receive signals in the borewell.

I came across a technique to measure water level in borewell. This is using laser technology (Time-of-
flight sensor). Is there similar available or better solution available in TI platform?

Sunil,

Measuring water levels in borewell using ultrasonic could be a challenge. Since pipes are very narrow to the most part and pretty deep running 100s of meters. In such cases it is difficult for transducers to pick waves reflecting only from the water surface rather than the pipes in it self for the most part. We can try to use a powerful transducer and try it in application.

You are right. Ultrasound will not work for this application but laser or guided ware radar sensor will work. There is very little beam spreading in laser sensor. As it is very less susceptible to obstructions such as tank walls and uneven water surfaces, they are most suitable for such application.

I am not sure whether IWR mmWave sensor from TI can be used for this application or not? Has anyone tried at TI or any of your customers? Please see if any app. note for such application is available.
