IWR1443BOOST: Trouble connecting Serial port with CC3200

Part Number: IWR1443BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ENERGIA, CC3200, , IWR1443

I've connected my IWR1443BOOST pin 7 on J5 to CC3200 pin 39. I've been using a baud rate of 2000000 and I've been monitoring the serial output via energia's built-in serial monitor. No matter what I do, I can't send the information over. Any ideas

  • Hello,

Could you please comment on what you are running on the IWR1443 device?
Also I guess you are using REVB version of the board.

Could you also please comment what you are planning to perform on the pin 7 of J5 ie. AR_RS232RX pin?
Please note, by default R169 and R166 devices are not populated, These signals lines are connected to XDS110 by default.
If you want to use these pins you may have to disconnect these pins from the XDS110 device.

Also default baud rate 921600 baud on the UART interface.
Also note that RS232RX is the receive pin of the UART for IWR1443 device, and RS232Tx pin is the transmit pin of UART.

    Thanks and regards,

  • I'm running the vitals signs lb demo on the IWR1443. I'm trying to read out the data gathered from the lab/IWR1443 to a CC3200. How do I disconnect the XDS110 device?
  • Hello,

You would need XDS110 for flashing the IWR1443 and sending the configuration.
If you would like to read the data over the booster pack connector to CC3200 device, then you need to disconnect the AR_MSS_LOGGER pin going into XDS110 device (R136) and connect R26 resistor to connect the signals on the J6 connector.

    Thanks and regards,

  • I'm not sure how to do that on the evm board. Also, I've gone through all the pins using an oscilloscope tool and it appears AR_BSS_LOGGER is outputting a signal very similar to UART. Is it possible to use that signal for the serial connection? If not, how do I arrange the the pins to properly arrange the resistors?
  • Hello,

You cannot use AR_BSS_LOGGER for this purpose, Even though its UART port it has different functionality.

Processed data would come through AR_MSS_LOGGER for this you need to modify EVM as instructed above.

To locate the resistors you could use the assembly diagram from the below link as well from the IWR1443BOOST product folder.
