OPT3007: OPT3007: can't read lux data when first power-up

Part Number: OPT3007

Hi Team,

My customer use OPT3007 with AMOLED in a display module, and the data of lux can display in the screen.

When first power-up the module, the ID of OPT3007 can be read but the data of lux can be read. However when change the screen to other test pattern Then change back to read data of lux and it can be read successfully.

If turn off the power and power-up again, the phenomenon will happen again.

The customer have sent three batches of this  display module to their end customer this year.

  • January batch: the problem mentioned above doesn't occur.
  • February batch:8 pieces of 500 has the problem mentioned above.
  • March batch: 10 pieces of 90 has the problem mentioned above.

Could you please give some advice about this?

Thanks a lot!

  • Hi Amelie,

Can I get more information on the system level block diagram of this device. Specifically the microprocessor interfacing with OPT3007. The fact the display changing fixes the problem seems to indicate it could have something to do with the MCU and any code running on the MCU. Has the customer tried probing the I2C lines for OPT3007 when this issue happens to ensure that the MCU is giving proper I2C to the OPT3007 to read data?

Feel free to email me at bhandari at ti.com if any details are better to share over email.

    Best,

    Alex
