TDC1000-TDC7200EVM: interfacing of ultrasonic sensor with TDC1000- TDC7200 EVM

I want to install ultrasonic transducer on the top inside of the tank for diesel level measurement in Generator Tank. The application is to measure the level through air medium along the X-axis.

The tank dimensions are as follows:

1) 1200 * 900*900 mm^3

2) 1828*1706*252 mm^3

I have gone through the following two transducer specifications and found them suitable to interface with TDC1000- 7200 EVM module. Kindly have a look and revert back with your feeback.

Also if you could suggest with a better transducer, kindly let me know.

Thank you for your response.

However , I coordinated with the SteMinc team for part number SMD15T21R111WL and they replied that this part is suitable for measuring level in tanks having maximum height upto 13 cm. I need a transducer to measure tanks having height of 90 cm.

Nikita,

We do not have any list of transducers that can measure in that range that you would need. I suggest you send a message to the transducer companies like STEMINC, PROWAVE or Murata and check with them if they have any transducers to measure the length that you require.

Dear Mr. Bharat,

I have already contacted the Steminc team. They have suggested to use the model number SMD50T21F1000R https://www.steminc.com/PZT/en/piezo-electric-disc-50x21mm-r-1-mhz ultrasonic sensor for measuring tanks having height 90cm. Infact they said that this sensor could be useful for this application as it can generate frequency of range 1 MHz and may require a higher input voltage to operate. However, they are unaware of the parameters to be input to TDC -1000 for this application.

Kindly provide your input for the parameters that should be used with the above mentioned sensor. For testing purpose ,I can also send you sample pieces of the ultrasonic sensor.

In assume you are using our TDC1000-TDC7200EVM, this EVM is configured for operating a transducer upto 3.3V/5V drive voltage only.

I am not sure about the drive voltage of the transducer that you have now. In case it is greater than 5V you will need to design a separate high drive circuit to run the transducer at higher voltage.
