IWR1642: Interference Avoidance

Hi team,

I'm looking for any documentation we have on the subject of interference avoidance between systems mount on vehicles. Can you point me to any support information on mechanisms used on vehicles to allow hundreds of RADAR systems to be in close proximity in this band (77GHz)?

Here are some of the specific questions I'm trying to answer:

What type of data have you perhaps taken to ensure there is no interference between deployed RADARs?
How have other customers deployed their solutions?
Have they obtained FCC waivers?

For automotive application, the vendor do not have control over nearby radar sensors. I am not sure how other customer handle this problem. It would be good to implement crossing interference localization (detection) and mitigation. You can also consider adding some randomization to the frame starting time. So if in the case of parallel interference, the probability will be very rare, and system can detect such an collision and ignore.
