FDC2212: Exchange of FDC 2212 with temperature

Part Number: FDC2212
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: FDC2214

Hi Dear TI Designers,

I am using FDC2212 cap sensor.

Sensor is working good in constant temperature but the raw data value from the sensor changes during short-term temperature changes (ambient: for a few seconds 60 celcius or more).

Already, I am using C0G capacitor. What are the other options for temperature compensation?

My questions is: Is the external temperature compensation circuit useful? Is it necessary ? (Example: circuits including thermistors)

Thanx for your helps

Best Regards...

  • Hello,

Some applications may benefit from an additional reference sensor to compensate for changes in the environment (temperature, humidity, unintended targets, etc). For example, section 10.2 of the datasheet discusses liquid level sensing using the FDC2214. This application uses one channel of the device for an environmental reference sensor.

If you are using the FDC2212 for proximity sensing, you should be able to implement a detection algorithm that eliminates the need for temperature compensation. This application note discusses one possible proximity detection algorithm.

    Best Regards,
