CCS/AWR1843BOOST: The difference of the beamforming mode and BPM mode

Part Number: AWR1843BOOST

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi,

Can any one tell me the difference of the  beamforming mode and BPM mode?Or they are the same thing?

Regards,

Rata

  • Hi Rata,

In Beamforming mode, to create a boresight beam all Tx of the device need to look at the same point and for this, each Tx is being added with small phase so that signal from all these Tx creates a high power beam at that point.

Whereas BPM is adding of 0 or 180 degrees of phase to each of Tx (or chirp) effectively create unique frame pattern to avoid interference with another mmwave sensor in the field.

You can search the internet to get more information about these topics.

Here is a thread talking about a similar topic-
