IWR6843: error when trying to launch ROS

Hello,

I'm following the steps outlined in the 'ROS Point Cloud Visualizer' lab and am getting an error when I try to launch ROS:

In the FAQ at the end of the lab, I saw that this could be due to a mismatch between the modules SDK version and the ROS driver version, so I looked at the ROS driver's release notes and saw I should be using SDK v3.0.0.8. So I reflashed the module, which was successful. I'm able to connect to the module using 'mmwave demo visualizer', and get data from it, etc. But when I run the command to launch ROS, I still get the same error as above.

I saw in another thread it looked like someone had a similar problem, and the solution was to load a certain .cfg file. I downloaded that file but I can't load it, at least via the 'load config from PC and send' button in mmWave demo visualizer.

Not sure what to try next?

Hi,

You can save the working version of CFG file you have using mmWaveVisualizer to you PC. Then copy and replace the content of CFG file in your catkin directory.

...\ ti_mmwave_ros_map_nav_v1p3\ti_mmwave_rospkg\cfg\6843ISK_3d_custom.cfg

I am however observing some 'non-start' cases, where I get the following error:

If I try several times, I can eventually get it to work. I haven't been able to find any pattern for when it works and when it doesn't.

Hi,

You will need to troubleshoot your setup to figure out why it sometimes fail. Are you seeing this when using the mmwave Visualizer?

Maybe try resetting the EVM before re-running the demo.

Hi,

No, it still has trouble connecting sometimes. If I just keep resetting the module and trying again, it eventually works. I don't have this problem with mmwave Visualizer.

Hi Ryan,

Please use the latest ROS package driver package and SDK 3.2.0.4 and ensure you switch the SOP back to functional mode after programming.

Also confirm that you don't have faulty USB cable as this can sometimes cause disconnects.
