IWR6843: Is hardware trigger supported?

Part Number: IWR6843

According to the user guide in the SDK (at least 03_02_00_04 and 03_03_00_03) the hardware trigger is not supported.

From page 22 (SDK 03_03_00_03):

I have confirmed that it works, I get frames when I put the pin high and none when low, but there is no sense in relying on it if it is not supported (and risk being removed or can cause problems).

  • Hi Dennis,

The Sync-IN trigger is a device feature which is tested at device and mmWaveLink (DFP) level. The documentation in SDK user guide just means that it is not tested and hence supported at an SDK/OOB demo level, however it should not be interpreted to mean that the feature will be removed from the device.

Is it possible for you to provide some use-case information about how you plan to use the feature?

    Thanks

    -Nitin

  • We are using multiple sensors of different types (and multiple radars) and want to

    1. synchronize the data to a known world-time for logging, and
    2. be able to adjust frame start on the fly from other software/hardware to handle different types of interference

Then I interpret your answer as we can use the feature and just do software modifications to adopt to changes if the behavior is altered.

  • Hi Dennis,

That is correct. Essentially, the feature will always be available in the device.
