IWR6843ISK-ODS: My elevation-angle phase information is reversed.

Part Number: IWR6843ISK-ODS

Hello. I’m trying to estimate a 3D location of the object with DCA100+ IWR6843ODS, but the phase information along the elevation angle direction does not match with the tutorial.

I’ve tried 4 experiments (testA ~ testD). In each experiment, the moving toy train was placed either below/above/left/right side of the sensor as specified below figure.

The right figure shows the virtual antennas and the position of trains.

From 1TX-1RX data, I made range-velocity map and estimated the range and velocity of the object using a peak detector.

And then plotted the phase change across the antennas.

The result of Test A, and Test B is correct.

When the object is at TestA location, the phase along RX1-TX1, RX4-TX1,… RX4-TX2 decreases as below figure.

And it increases when the object is at Test B location.

However, the result is reversed for elevation antennas.

From what I understand, when the object is above the sensor (testD), phase along RX4-TX2, RX3-TX2, RX4-TX3, RX3-TX3 must increase. However, it is decreased.

Also, when it is located below the sensor the phase is increased.

I checked my chirp configuration, but they matched with cfg files in experiments (http://dev.ti.com/tirex/explore/node?node=AFmsC4Pjv3N8OtdrcDLsEg__VLyFKFf__LATEST).

I checked my codes several times, and I believe it is not code error.

Could you please tell me what made the result reversed?
