TDC1000: External vcom select.

Part Number: TDC1000

What is external vcom select and under what circumstances would I need to use it?

  • Hello Fernando,

The output of the internal common-mode buffer is present at the VCOM pin. The commonmode buffer can be disabled with the VCOM_SEL bit in the CONFIG_2 register. If disabled, an external reference voltage must be applied to the VCOM pin.

In case the customer wants to setup your own value of VCOM you can input at this to pin.

Please refer to the Figure 22 in TDC1000 Datasheet for the relation of the COMPIN, Vcom & Thld to create the STOP pulses.

There is no specific use case as different from the internal Vcom, just that if the internal Vcom is not enough to create a proper STOP pulse, you can force an external value for the same.
