LDC2112: Micro variable、long press

Part Number: LDC2112

Hi Kristin

I have confused to the micro variable, please share your experience, thanks.

1. Do you know how much the copper micro variable will trigger? The spec (SONA961) mentioned that if the aluminum material is used, a 0.2um micro variable will work? Is this the minimum micro variable?

2. Does LDC2112 support interrupt after long-press a few seconds?

3. What kind of finish does it need in the aluminum surface?

4. The following is a description of the excel calculation table, what does red line mean?

  • Hi Alex,

    1. We recommend a 0.2mm deflection. I recommend using the Metal Deflection tool in the LDC Tools excel calculator.

    2. The LDC2112 can support button presses up to 50s long. After a 50s button assertion the baseline will reset and the OUTx pins will de-assert.

    3. We do not have a specific required finish, but the target should be as smooth as possible.

    4. If you had conductive material near to the coil that you did not want to affect the measurements, it could be at most 0.5 skin depths thick for the LDC to effectively ignore its presence.

    Best Regards,
