LDC1101: Board Layout Routing

Part Number: LDC1101

Hello there,

I would like to ask about the importance of layout for LDC1101 PCB? I see that there are 4 layers. For example Mid-Layer 1 Routing is pretty much ground, meant as shield? (based on snou137)

Is there any recommendation what shape and layout to design resp. what is not recommended? Could it be design as digital design (connections matters not shapes) or analog design is important as well?

I assume that the best is to take current LDC1101EVM layout for LDC1101 section, modify the shape, dimensions and add few components what are needed otherwise keep everything unchanged.

Thank you,

Best Regards,

Michael

  • Hi Michael,

In general, you can use the same good layout techniques for the LDC1101 as you would for other devices. For example, minimizing ground loops and separating noisy digital signals from sensitive analog signals. Using large ground planes helps minimize the impedance of various return paths. Please note that the LDC1101 does have special layout recommendations for the sensor, which are listed in section 11 of the datasheet. You can certainly use the LDC1101EVM layout as a guide if you would like.
