LDC1101: Conversion Result Data

Part Number: LDC1101

Hello There,

I would like to ask about output of LDC1101. It outputs results over SPI at registers 0x38, 0x39 and 0x3A as LHRDATA. Is it always only unique codes which needs to be then recalculated to corresponding sensor frequency and inductance of the coil? What do these counts represent? Is it always integer without any decimals?

There is also configuration in GUI in LHR mode for setting Reference Count and offset. I thought that the length of conversion time is set by registers 0x30 and 0x31 but is there also Reference Count used for something else I am missing?

Thank you very much for you answers.

Best,

Michael

  • Michael,

Registers 0x38-0x3A are updated each conversion cycle with the LHR conversion.

This output data should be read sequentially starting at 0x38.  This data can be used to calculate the frequency of the sensor as shown here

Reference count is used to set the total conversion time.  It counts a certain number of edges of the reference clock to set this.

It might be helpful to refer to the various tools and guides that are located at the link below.  There are even some powerful excel calculators to help you setup your sensor design and provide some guidance with device confiugation.
