AWR1843: Why does the HWA limits the USRR in MRR beamsteering lab?

Part Number: AWR1843

Hi , in this post you said this

"These are the limitations of the MRR Beamsteering lab. These limitations are due to the use of HWA for the USRR processing."

Why does the HWA limits this app?, maybe the HWA also causes limitations when I want to develop a beamsteering app with MRR and LRR?, I would like to know that because I am on it

thanks

  • Hi,

I was not able to check Jiten's post.

I am familiar with MRR Beamsteering lab. In this release the USRR mode was not supported due to other priorities.

However, there are no limitations due to HWA which is used for the MRR mode

    thank you

    Cesar

  • Hi, so I could use HWA with MRR and LRR but no with USRR?, and how do I know what does TI understands as USRR, MRR and LRR, what ranges are we talking about, is there any document that specifies that?

    Thanks

  • Hi,

No, you can use the HWA for any application where the FFT and CFAR engines can be used.

USRR, MRR, LRR are not defined by specific documents. This terminology can be used differently by different customers.

In the demos we have available, USRR is defined as around 20m, MRR around 120m, LRR > 120m

Again these terminologies can change in time and for different companies

    Thank you
    Cesar

  • Hi, but is there any way to make the USRR mode works ok?, what are those priorities that limits this function?

  • Sorry, this is the post were talks about HWA limitation for the USRR and MRR modes, so you say that HWA is not a limitation but the other post says it is, I am confused

  • Hi,

Jiten was probably trying to explain that in the MRR Beamsteering lab the USRR mode was not supported because it was not implemented with the HWA.

When this demo was released the team had to work on other projects and it was decided not to support the USRR mode.

The HWA can be used for any application where the FFT and CFAR engines can be used. This includes USRR, MRR, LRR.

The mmWave SDK demo provides examples of implementing USRR type algorithms with HWA only

    Does this address your concerns?

    thank you

    Cesar

  • ok, thanks
