IWR6843AOPEVM: Angle resolution for IWR6843AOP

Part Number: IWR6843AOPEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR6843AOP

Hi community member,

My customer have a question as below:

According to antenna database, Angle resolution for IWR6843AOP are 29 deg and 29 deg(Azimuth / Elevation), right?
These angle resolution are the minimum angle separation for the two objects.
Is it correct?

And, Are these resolutions characteristics using Bartlett beamforming?
Do the characteristics differ when using Capon Beamforming?
My customer study using 3d_pplcount_user_guide in industrial toolbox v4.4.1.

Please teach us.
Best regards.

  • HI, Cruijff:

Yes, these angle resolution is defined by using Bartlett beamforming.   From our experiment, the angle resolutions improves with Capon beamforming only if the two targets has independent velocity.   In another word, if we are  using Capon beamforming to separate two static targets (at same range bin), the angle resolution will not be improves.

    Best.
