IWR6843: PC (Macbook running bootcamp) unable to detect the device being connected

Hello

Before debugging on MAC  can you please confirm if you have been able to follow the steps for setup and have it working on a Windows machine.  This will flush the board + driver combination is working.

Please following the Tirex OOB demo user's guide to get this working.

The expectation is that after plugging the evaluation board with 5V input and the micro usb the LED's are lit up as follows:

But when I plug the device in the same way it comes up in the following way, this makes me believe that the 3V3 is not coming up and the HW board has an issue.

You should see the LED come on on the ISK if properly mounted and powered. You also have the USB cable plugged into the FTDI port not the USB port, can you plug to the lower USB port on the ICBOOST and see if the COM ports come up at least?

Was this behavior seen right out of the box?

when you use the ISK in Modular mode (without the ICBOOST) does it work?

Yes I was successfully able to flash the IWR6843ISK.

Upon moving to the functional mode and trying to setup the mmwave SDK Demo, I set the serial ports.

The input serial port (COM8 in my case) was successfully connected but the output port (COM7 in my case) could not be connected successfully and thus no plots were generated.

Did you still try to send the CFG files anyways? The visualizer sometimes shows the "connected to 1 of 2" statement until the cfg is sent

I was waiting for the connection to be completed. Let me send config to the mmwave device.

If not I will try the steps in the thread. when is the fixed sdk demo release going to occur if I still face the issue with the new binary?

Sending the config files when the output port is waiting doesn't resolve the issue.

In the attached it mentions that the bug exists on devices IWR6843 ES1.0 and software  version MMWAVE-SDK3.2.0.4 wherein I am using device IWR6843 ES 2.0 and software MMWAVE-SDK3.5.0.4. I tried to find the modification in the soc.c file but the modification to be made doesnt exist, it has the following code

The point of the linked post is to show that in  similar cases the connection waiting was not an issue and the CFG file could be sent.

1. When you sent the cfg did it show any error? can you share a screen short of the configuration tab after sending CFG?
2. Also just to confirm you are flashing the EVM with the OOB demo binary right?
3. Can you also share the image of the your board to show the setup in modular mode (without ICBOOST)

2. Unable to upload the binary here but the file is located in the industrial toolbox : C:\Users\mmwave_industrial_toolbox_4_5_1__win\mmwave_industrial_toolbox_4_5_1\labs\people_counting\68xx_3D_people_counting

3. Connection images attached in functional mode.

Please improve on the response time. We are exchanging daily questions for past 10 days to no resolve. Please let me know if a 15 min call will be helpful. Timing is not an issue.

I think I found the problem, To use the mmWavevisualizer the image you need to flash is the binary located in the SDK

I am unable to load the chirp configurations in the location:

Hi Nitin,

I was able to run the people counting demo with the default chirp configurations but it was not very successful in detecting people.

Does TI have a chirp configuration when the sensor is mounted on the ceiling?
