LDC1101EVM: Unable to connect to board on Windows 10

I cannot connect to LDC 1101EVM evaluation board with LDC1101 EVM GUI software on Windows 10. COM port is detected but GUI software displays NOT CONNECTED at the bottom. See the attachment.

I have tried installing NI VISA Runtime, didn't help.
I have run GUI and installer as administrator and/or Win7 compatibility mode, didn't help.
I have tried different USB cables, didn't help.
I have tried installing the software on another Win10 PC, the installation failed even sooner while installing.
I can't try another board as I only have one.
Drivers seem to have been installed correctly as device manager lists EVM with COM port.
I have tried the steps from these threads, didn't help:

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing difficulties with the LDC1101EVM GUI.

Is this a new issue, and have you previously been able to connect to the GUI using this EVM before?

Hello,
This is my first time trying to use this evaluation board so I consider this new issue. I have not used the GUI before. The board is also bought as new from Farnell.

Please try running the following patch to fix the Labview installation: /cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/1023/4606.NI_5F00_Visa_5F00_RT_5F00_installer.zip

Tried that but didn't help. Same problem remains. There have been many posts here on E2E forums suggesting the installation of different patches but at the moment it is hard to understand which of those have to be installed. Some posts suggest NI VISA 20 or 14.0.1 and some posts suggest patches like you just mentioned. None of these have worked so far. Which patches are required and how to continue troubleshooting?

Hello,

My apologies that this did not work for you. Is it possible for you to order another EVM? If you have installed the patch and are running the GUI as an administrator, I am not sure what could be causing these connectivity issues, and I'd like to make sure that there is not an issue with the EVM.

Additionally, if you share more details about your application we may be able to find other devices that are more suitable for your application and use a different GUI.
