AWR1843BOOST: UARTs interfaces use cases and parameter settings on AWR1843BOOST EVM

In AWR1843BOOST EVM, does the USB port support two UARTs (UARTA and UARTB) at the same time or support only one of them under certain setting ?

To my understanding, UARTA is emulated over USB and used for firmware download and receiving configuration parameter send from mmw gui to EVM. UARTB is emulated over USB and used for sending log information to mmw gui. Is my understanding correct?

Can we set different UART parameters for UARTA and UARTB separately? From lab0007 mrr demo code, it seems the UART parameters setting doesn't distinguish the UARTA and UARTB.

Hi,

Both of the UART can be used simultaneously. Your understanding is correct on mmw GUI with EVM connection.

Functionality can be controlled via Pinmux by the application, thus usage of this UART varies from app to app. MRR doesn't use both of the UART, it uses only one to send object result to PC via USB.

Now I understand MRR use UARTB to send object result to PC.

Can you please tell me in which demo both UARTs are used simultaneously? Can I find how theses two UARTS are used (tx/rx) in the demo code .

Yes, URATA is used for firmware download via USB in SOP5 (flashing mode). UARTA is named as RS232 in the AWR1843BOOST schematic.

mmw demo uses both of UART together. But in that case UARTB is configured as Tx only (wrt device). Same UARTB you can configured Rx and Tx by doing pinmuxing as mentioned in this e2e thread-
