IWR1443BOOST: what happened to the capture demo?

Please read the release notes document section titled "Migration section" in the SDK 1.2 release for your questions 1) and 2).

The migration notes say that mmWave Studio allows raw ADC capture. I have installed both of the mmWave Studio applications. I see that I can use the Demo to record the "processed stream" to disk, but I do not see how to capture raw ADC samples. I also do not see mention of raw ADC sample capture in the MMWave Demo User Guide either.

Can you please provide guidance on:

1.) which mmWave Studio app allows raw sample capture (Demo Visualizer or Sensing Estimator)

2.) how to do the raw sample capture, since I can't find that information in the user guide provided with the mmWave Studio

Radar Studio allows raw data capture if you also have a TSW1400 and a devPack.  The Radar Studio user's guide explains this process.

Thank you. We currently only have a mmwave devpack and an iwr1443Boost. Does using the capture_stream test allow us to receive raw ADC samples without the TSW1400?

Hi Colleen,

The mem_capture test will DMA the ADC data into a section of memory called gDataCube.  If you run the software in debug mode, it is possible to store this data using CCS. See this app note for instructions to do so.

I see. mem_capture only seems to capture the ADC data for a short snapshot in time, since we're restricted by the size of the memory. Does either csi_stream or the old capture demo allow me to capture ADC samples for an arbitrary amount of time?

Also,  if we were to purchase a TSW1400, is there any way to do the data capture in Linux? I see that the high speed data capture software and the mmwave device firmware package are both Windows only.

I believe the previous capture demo was capable of streaming (through the dev pack), although personally I didn't ever get it working. Not sure if I was doing something wrong, or if I have a faulty dev pack, but to be fair I didn't spend too much time on it.

From what I recall, to get it to work some people had monitored the Data port through tera term to view the streamed adc data.

Not sure if it's still possible with mem_capture (but I might give it another shot when I have the time).

Just posting this to give you some hope that others had been able to stream with the capture demo, even if it's not a full solution!
