TMUX1109: Extend to 16 thermocouple channels, with TMUX1109 and ADS124S08

Part Number: TMUX1109
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS124S08,

Dear,

From previous learning, I will use ads124s08 to perform TC measurement. However, we need 16 totally while ads124s08 only have 6 channels. Here we are discussing two options:

1) The first option is using 3 * ads124s08, that will be perfect I think. Except the cost :)

2) Secondly, I had a idea to choose MUX for channel extension. With search in the forum, I found TMUX1109 would be a good choice for its performance. Well, I do have a concern about the noise that will affect accuracy. Was it acceptable comparing option 1?

Further more, If option 2 is OK, where can I place the MUX in my circuit? For Diagram A, MUX was close to TC. The filter circuit part will be reduced. While the drawback is MUX may affect by higher temperature (maybe close to 125 degree) since it is close to TC;

For Diagram B, The filter circuit part was placed for every TC channel. And the benefit is MUX was faraway from TC;

(Burn-out Detection Using Resistor Biasing part was hide).

Which one could be better. Or there are some other issues I did not think about?

Thanks in advance,

regards,
