TMUX6202: termination switch

Part Number: TMUX6202

In my design, I need to switch a 68 ohm termination on and off. the bus voltage is 22Vpp. Can I use TMUX6202 for this? Please see attached picture.

Thanks!

  • Hey Yossy,

That should be fine, as long as you're abiding by the abs max voltage and current of the device.
At 22V you'll just need a positive supply of at least 22V.
As for the current you would need to limit it to the values in this table, which change by package and supply. The +/-15V case would be the closest fit for the 22V supply yo uwould probably use.

Where is the 68ohm termination in the diagram though? Would you be placing that on one side of the mux? I worry that if it's just the mux you'd be looking at 22V across a 1ohm from the device so approximately 22A through the device which would fry it. But with the 68ohm you'd be at 22/68 = approx. 320mA, so depending on the supply and package you select, it should be fine

    Thanks,
    Rami

  • Hello Rami,

Thank you very much for the detailed answer.
Regarding the 68 ohm: there are two 34 ohm resistors on each side of the switch. I thought placing the switch between two 34 ohms resistors (R1 & R2), so connecting them would create 68 ohms, would help create a more balanced system for the switch.

    Thanks!
