TS3DV642 - About the input way of the TMDS signal

The TS3DV642 is a passive switch so you can use it in 1:2 or 2:1 configuration.  Placing the TMDS_Data- on the D+ pin and the TMDS_Data+ on the D- pin is okay.

My customer would like to input Hi-Z for D0+/- , D1+/- , D2+/- , D3+/-.

(Hi-Z is output by LSI.)

In this case, should we make EN pin of TS3DV642 Low?

Or, is EN pin "don't care"?

My customer is concerned about trouble of TS3DV642.

Could you please give us some advice.

Hello Kanemaru,

The table for the EN/Sel logic can be found on page 3 of the datasheet. For EN == Low, the switch state is High-Z.

I’m sorry for my questions being difficult to understand.

TMDS signals are usually output from the LSI to TS3DV642.

However, the LSI sometimes outputs Hi-z.

In this case, We would like to hold “EN =high”.

If we don't change to "EN=Low", is TS3DV642 given adverse effect (e.g. latch up etc…) ?

Hello Kanemaru,

The TS3DV642 is a passive switch, whatever you put on the input will pass to the output.  If one side of the switch is high-Z then the other side will see that high-Z impedance.  There will be no issues with having the high-Z outputs from the LSI into the TS3DV642 while the EN = high.
