TS5MP645: Suitable solution for MIPI SOC

Part Number: TS5MP645
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TS5MP646

Hi Team,

Do you think TS5MP645 could support up to 1.5Gbps datarate for below MIPI SOC?

Should I replace it with TS5MP646 to get more bandwidth?

Thank you.

Jim

  • Jim,

You need to calculate the clock frequency per channel to evaluate it against the TS5MP645 bandwidth which is stated for each channel.

If it is 1.5Gpbs across 4 parallel lanes it would be 375 Mbps per lane.  Typically the clock frequency is half the data rate in there is no encoding so 187.5 MHz clock per lane is what you need to compare to the TS5MP645 bandwidth.  We typically recommended selecting a switch that bandwidth is 3x the clock frequency per lane.  So we would recommend ~>500MHz bandwidth switch to support 187MHz.

If you determine the system clock frequency per lane to be what I calculated above than either the TS5MP645 or TS5MP646 will work.

You can find more information in this e2e post.

    Thank you,

    Adam
