SN74CBT16233: Rail to rail 5V multiplexing in a non-BGA package

Part Number: SN74CBT16233
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TS5MP645, TMUX1574

Hello,

I am attempting to mux 32 analog voltage signals to 16 outputs. I need 5V rail to rail output so as to not lose range on my outputs. Finally, I need it in a package with accessible pins for debugging.

My first attempt was with the SN74CBT16233, which had all the channels in one convenient package but has a Voltage drop Vt that is not given in its spec sheet.

The forum for that product discussing that problem gives two alternatives for rail to rail, but the first is 3.3V max and the second is a BGA package.

Can anyone recommend a 5V mux with rail to rail support other than the TS5MP645?

Thank you,

David

  • David,

I used the switch search tool and filtered for configuration 2:1, Vdd >5 V, package group not DSBGA, and sorted on channel count least to greatest.  As you mentioned above the SN74CBTXXXX devices are single NFETs and the Vt is about 1 volt so you won't get rail to rail operation.  The next largest channel count is the TMUX1574.  You can use 4 of the TMUX1574 devices to achieve your 16 channel needs.

    Thank you,

    Adam
