TS3L500AE: TS3L500AE application question

Part Number: TS3L500AE

Hi Team,

My customer want to use TS3L500AE to replace relay as following shows:

Is there any relevant application notes or information could share with my customer for reference?
Could TS3L500AE be placed between the transformer and the Ethernet controller?

Thanks and best regards,

Jamie

  • Jamie,

For reference and useful information, have you looked through previously asked questions on E2E. I know we've received similar questions before so I ran a quick search for you and found the following :

The switch itself will work in any location as long as it meets the recommended conditions mentioned in the datasheet. Vcc between 3 and 3.6V and the Vi/o from 0 to Vcc. The 500AE doesn't accept negative voltages though so that's something to keep in mind when examining whether the device location will be proper or not.

The bandwidth shouldn't be an issue since the TS3L500AE has a bandwidth of 950MHz. For Gigabit ethernet there are 8 communication wires, that read two edges. This translates to 62.5Mbs per line. We typically recommend 2-3 times the signal frequency for the switch bandwidth so the TS3L500AE should be more than enough.

    Thanks,
    Rami
