I'm migrating from my prototype DSK environment to a production environment, trying to get CCSv3.3 working with a Blackhawk xds100v2d emulator on my custom board. I purchased CCSv3.3 C2000 but am having trouble getting it configured.
I run CCS setup then following
the instructions in CCS Setup Help for a Custom Setup...
1. Select the My System icon in the System Configuration pane. -
OK so far.
2. In the Available Factory Boards pane, select a target board or
simulator that represents your system and click Add to move it to
your system list. - There is nothing in that pane that represents my
setup.
I am using a F28235 in my project. That is not an option in the
Available Factory Boards pane although this is the C2000 version. I
am using an XDS100v2 emulator from Blackhawk. There is no option
for XDS100 in the Available Factory Boards pane, just xds501,
xds560, or simulator. I cannot configure a custom board setup.
The xds100 shows up properly in Device Manager/USB Controllers, so
that seems OK.
Anyone have success working with a setup like this?
Thanks,
Bill

XDS100v2 is not supported on CCSv3.3. You need CCSv4 and higher.

Since you just purchased v3.3 for C2000, you are eligible for a free upgrade to a CCSv4 MCU license. Contact ccs_license_file_help@list.ti.com to get your license moved over.
Thanks

Hi Ki,
Thanks for the quick response. I was eligible for a CCSv4 license when I first bought the XDS100 and I took advantage of it. That is WHY I bought V3.3. Blackhawk explicitly states that their XDSv2 works with CCS3.3 with a firmware change, which I have done. The problem is that CCSv3 C2000 does not seem to support the XDS100 (any version) or the F28235, which is really interesting since it IS the C2000 version.
I really need this combo to work.
Best,
Bill
What is the full version number of your CCS installation ('Help->About')? You would need at least version CCS 3.3.83.19 to get XDS100 and F2823x support.
Thanks

Actually, I think it comes supported in an earlier version than that but you still need a fairly recent version.
Bill Shaw said:The new version I'm trying to work with is 3.3.38.
That is a very old version. You will need an updated version to get XDS100 and 2823x support. Can you start a private conversation with me so i can give you more details on how to get the updated version?
Thanks
ki
OK, I've updated to 3.3.38.19. Now I cannot get it to flash my code, and it will not run the frequency test in the On-Chip Programmer dialog. When I try to start the freq. test I get...
Failure loading Flash API Interface file onto target.
Frequency Test Operation failed
**** End Frequency Test Operation. ***
Any pointers to a soloution would be appreciated.
Bill
I don't know what changed but I walked away from it for a few hours and when I returned it passed the freq test, then flashed and ran as it should. Looks like I'm up and running.
Thanks again for your assistance.
Bill
