MSP430 *and* Stellaris

Intro:

I'm new to MSP430, and have been using Stellaris for some time, but with Keil - not CCS.

I have a couple of TI Stellaris Kits which, AIUI, give a licence with no time or code-size limits, but locked to the TI board;

I have a couple of MSP430 kits for which, AIUI, I must download a code-size-limited version (or buy a licence).

The Question Is:

Are there any special steps to install CCS with both of these?

Does it matter which I install first?

Should one be an "install" and the other just an "update" to that installation?

Or what?

    But that is well over a year old - has the situation changed...?

    Hi Andy,

    Yes, that situation still applies for v4 if you want to continue to use the free code size limited option for MSP430. The code size limited version is a separate install that does not support Stellaris.

    If you purchase a permanent microcontroller license, then you can have one install that supports both your Stellaris kit and MSP430 (no code size limit)

    The situation has changed for v5.1. There will be no separate code size limited version install but only one CCS installation that supports every option (code size, full, etc)

    ccs v5 installation

    maybe i am confused. but it asked me during the process if i wanted stellaris or msp430.

    i didn't see an option to select both....

    does that mean we still need two completely separate installations of ccs v5?
