LP-XDS110: XDS110 does not update from 2.3.0.5 to 3.0.0.31 version

Sure, so to do this process first connect your debugger to any TI device (let's say CC2340R5 for now), you will enter in and select the CC2340R5 device, then select the debugger probe and open the session. Then try to flash any .out file (you can grab any CC2340R5 example project, built it, and in the debug folder will be the .out file) and when flashing the .out file with UniFlash it will prompt you to update the debugger.

Alternatively, we could also use SmartRF Studio 8 for the same purpose (you will open the tool, and it should show that the debugger is out of date).

We did a test ourselves and noticed that if you had more than 1 debugger attached to your computer at a time (or another device with a debugger) it will cause the debugger that is out of date to not be updated during the update process.

Both UniFlash and SmartRF studio did not manage to update the FW of XDS110

I see the only way to fix my problem is to re-flesh the bootloader and firmware of XDS110
For that I already ordered XDS100v2.
Could you please help me find a suitable cable to buy:
That can connect XDS100v2 to XDS110 for flashing the bootloader and FW?

I also wanted to ask that only 1 TI device was attached to your PC during flashing? we did notice a bug where if two or more devices are connected at the same time the first device won't update correctly.

The 10-pin cable from the following product should work (*this will allow us to bypass the possibly faulty XDS110 on the device with another XDS110, or on a device that lacks a XDS110):

I have only one XDS110 device and no other devices were not connected to my PC at any time when I tried to update the XDS110.

However, the internal JTAG is not 10 pin two rows, but 5 pin two rows. Please take a look at the attached picture:

Looks like I used the wrong picture in my last reply! 

The 10-pin cable I mentioned is indeed the 5 pin with two rows, 10 total pins (not one row of 10 pins).

Sorry I do not see a 10 pin cable in the XDS110 box
And I am not sure which connector the xds100v2 will have
Could you give a more specific description of which cable to use to connect xds100v2 to xds110 and where I can get it

You don't need any extra cable.

I've done it and worked for me.

Could you please help me find the JTAG TDO pin which I need to connect to GND?
Is it on the JTAG connector on the outer ports
Or is it on the CM10 ARM connector on the inside?
When I connect the CM10 TDO pin to GND XDS110 does not boot.
And if I connect the TDO on outer JTAG nothing happens:

Hi this is the pin that I've conneted to gnd.

I used also a switch to release the pin without switch off the board.

The procedure is:

1) Connect the pin to gnd

2) Connect the usb cable

3) Relase the pin connection to gnd without switch off the board

Then follow the dfu procedure

I Soldered this two pins and it does not boot up with them connected

You have to connect the pin indicated by the arrow to gnd with a wire and a switch.

Connect the usb cable and then remove the gnd connection.

At this point board will be in dfu mode and you can proceed

When I connect to TDO to GND the XDS110 does not turn on until I do a power cycle.

- Not too sure if this is a grounding issue or not. 

Possibly there is some special startup routine here that needs a power cycle? Once you do power cycle the board can you detect/boot it?
