UCD3138: UCD3x family not supported in CCS v20x

Hi,

I have downloaded and installed CCS v20.1.1 (offline installer) on Windows 11.

When I want to create a new project for the UCD3138 device, the wizard doesn't seem to know this device (or its family). During installation I kept the checkbox for the UCD3x family checked... Do I need to download/install additional resources or doesn't this CCS version support the UCD 3x family?

Hi Kenny,

UCD3x is supported by CCS 20.1.x. However, the project wizard will not show any examples for it because there is no package for it in Resource Explorer. Please see the below FAQ for more details:

When I import, for instance, UCD3138FW-PFC firmware, then I get the following error when trying to build this project:

[0]Buildfile generation error occurred..
[1]This project was created using a version of compiler that is not currently installed - 5.2.2 [Arm].
[2]Build stopped..

Do I need to manually install the toolchain for the example firmware?

Yes. We no longer ship with the old TI ARM proprietary compiler:

You can manually download it from ti.com:

And the make sure it is discovered by CCS:

I was able to download and make the ARM-CGT discoverable by CCS. However, it seems I can only download ARM-CGT versions from v15x and higher.

In the used example design, mentioned above, it states the following when using v20x:

7] (ti_arm9_abi) is discontinued. If COFF ABI support is needed for your
[168] application, please use ARM CGT version 5.2.x

The ARM-CGT v5.2.9 doesn't contain a link to the tooling... any advice how to proceed?

The link is there, but you need to fill out a form. Click on the Windows one and it will lead you to the process for the windows installer:
