trying to install CCS 4.2.4.00033 on a Windows 7 64-bit computer.  but I keep getting this message then the install locks up

    Kurt,

    Severe install issues are easier to detect as they are more deterministic. In this case I suggest providing the install logs (check this section).

    Kurt,

    I know it sounds silly, but are you sure you copied/unzipped all the installer contents into the C:\Users\kurtjensen.SPIRICON\Downloads directory?

    The reason for my question is that the first siginficant error that shows up is the absence of the file install_images/package.properties (lines 141 and 142):

    12/14/2011 14:52:20PM - ** Checking to see if C:\Users\kurtjensen.SPIRICON\Downloads/install_images/package.properties exists
    12/14/2011 14:52:20PM - Condition failed

    This causes the failure in properly expanding the variables for the compiler tools (starting with %CGT_MSP430_SETUP_NAME% in line 910) and therefore failing to find the appropriate installers for these tools:

    12/14/2011 14:52:41PM - Executing Command Line: {C:\Users\kurtjensen.SPIRICON\Downloads/install_images/cgt/<%CGT_MSP430_SETUP_NAME%>} /pro /y /prefix {C:\ccs/ccsv4/tools/compiler/msp430}
    12/14/2011 14:52:41PM - Error while executing: couldn't execute "C:\Users\kurtjensen.SPIRICON\Downloads\install_images\cgt\<%CGT_MSP430_SETUP_NAME%>": no such file or directory

    Please be sure to extract everything to a directory with read and execute permissions, so you can get the installer to properly find these files.

    what I have is "setup_CCS_4.2.4.00033.exe", downloaded July 2011, 6,802 Kb - I ran it as Administrator from my "C:\Users\kurtjensen.SPIRICON\Downloads" folder

    I have installed CCS 4 multiple times using this file.  I checked yesterday and 4.2.4.00033 is the latest CCS 4 installation.  I will try downloading a new copy

    ok, now I understand. I had a directory with the ZIP and the EXE and the LIC and some other files.  this was where I had unzipped the ZIP.  I got confused and only copied over the EXE.  now when I download a new copy I see that i need all the other files in the install_images folder.

    works find when you got all the stuff.  sorry 'bout that.
