CCS5 Crashes When Connecting to Target

My CCS5 is stopped working.  Every time I tried to connect to the target it crashes. I tried the board on different machine and it works fine.

I've tried:

- Deleting the target configuration and making a brand new one (first with a linked target config, and then with a the target config saved in the project folder).

- Starting CCS with -clear option.

- Moving to a brand new workspace and importing projects.

I can launch a target configuration, but when I try to connect to "connect to target" the CCS window just disappears, no error message is seen.

Attached are the log files.

CCS Version: 5.1.0.08012, Windows 7

  • I had a similar problem this morning and found  this post the recommends uninstalling the C++ run time package and reinstalling with an .exe from the CCS download. It didn't work for me and I finally just ended up uninstalling and reinstalling CCS5.

  • Could you temporarily rename C:\ti\ccsv5\ccs_base\emulation\analysis\bin\ctools.dll to “ctools.dll.orig” and see if CCS starts working?

It looks like the crash is occurring in the advanced breakpoint area and renaming this module will disable this feature temporarily.

There have also been bug fixes between the CCS version you are using and the final CCSv5.1 release, so I would also recommend updating to the final CCS v5.1 release regardless.

I did update my CCS installation and I am now able to connect to the target again.

  • I have the same problem. but, I dont have that .dll. the path C:\ti\ccsv5\ccs_base\emulation\analysis\bin\ctools.dll  does not exist in my CCSv5.

    any suggestions?
