CCS v4.2.5 and Code Generation Tools V4.9.0

I updated Code Composer Studio Version: 4.2.5.00005.

Through Eclipse I wanted to start a new project based on the LM3S8962.

I received the following error:

"The selected device is supported only by Code Generation tools of version 4.9.0 or higher."

The currently installed code generation tools are v4.6.6. CCS won't allow me to finish creating a new project. How can I fix this error?

Ben,

if you go to Help -> Software Updates -> Find and Install, then select 'Search for updates of currently installed features', then click finish, this should locate and update CCS to the newest Code Generation tools.

Rebecca,

I tried that and got a reply that stated "No updates for the currently installed feature(s) found, try again later."

Then I tried Software Updates -> Manage Configuration, selected TMS470 Code Generation Tools 4.6.6, selected Scan for Updates and got the same response.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Code Composer?

Not yet.

Do you have a link where I can download the CGT v4.9.0? I'd like to try that before I nuke the current installation.

After searching the CCS forums I've found this link: http://e2e.ti.com/support/development_tools/code_composer_studio/f/81/t/136993.aspx#569421 Do you happen to be using Windows 7?

Support for the Stellaris M4F devices started with CGT 4.9.0 or higher. Are you sure that the project you're creating if for the LM3S8962 and not an LM4Fxxx device?

I'm going to move this post to the CCS forums since they are better equipped to answer your issue.

Hi Ben,

unfortunately for ARM devices, the code generation tools are not available for separate download and the new ones do not appear to be on the update site either then.

That leaves the only option to install a newer version of CCS unfortunately. If you know someone who has that compiler version, you can alternatively get it from them.
