CCSv5 Excluding & "Un-excluding" files from build

All:

I have some files that I wanted to exclude from build, and I was able to do that with right-click-->Resource Configuration-->Exclude from Build option. However, once excluded, it was not possible to "un-exclude." What I ended up doing was moving the files from the directory to a temporary location, renaming them, and then dragging them back to the original directory, where they showed up as "new" files in the project.

Is there a way to un-exclude files from build, or is it necessary to do what I just did to get files back into a project?

Todd Anderson

  • Hi Todd,

what exact CCS version are you using?  What do you experience?  I just tried to reproduce this in a simple project and could exclude and then include again.  What exact behaviour do you see?

  • Lisa:

    I am using CCS 5 - specifically, 5.1.0.09000.

    Hopefully, that helps.

  • Hi Todd,

as mentioned, I can't seem to reproduce this.  Could you please explain what you are experiencing?  What do you see that seems to indicate it is not working for you?  Have you tried a fresh workspace or project?

  • Lisa:

I figured it out, but it was not obvious.

I did a right-click on the file, then picked resource configurations --> exclude from build. It then brings up an "Exclude from build" window. Selecting "Debug" will exclude the file from being built in the debug configuration.

Once this is done, the file will have a "strike-thru" on it in the Project Explorer view.

To include again, I again did a right-click on the "excluded" file, then picked resource configurations --> exclude from build. It again brings up the "Exlude from build" window, and UN-selecting "Debug" will now include the file when being built in the debug configuration.

  • Hi Todd,

great.  I appologize as I assumed when you said not working, you were trying this already.

Anyhow, all the best with development.
