CCS v5.2 installation problem

I downloaded the CCS v5.2.0.0069 offline installer and attempted to install it over CCS v5.1.1.0031.  I included only the necessary items for MSP430 development.  When I ran the installer, I continued to have windows pop-up indicating an error occurred and to look at a particular log file in C:\ti\ccsv5\eclipse\configuration.  These were so prevalent I had to force quit the installer.  The error log specified some sort of FrameworkEvent error.  In the end, I had to uninstall CCS v5.1.1 and do a clean install of CCS v5.2.0.  I am running Windows 7.  Sadly, I didn't save any of the log files.

A co-worker of mine attempted to perform the same upgrade on his machine using the internal CCS upgrade utility.  He received a similar error, which halted the upgrade process.  He is running Windows XP.  The log file for this error is attached.  I also attached the ccsv5 folder within the InstallJammer folder, as I saw request for that info in another post.

Any thoughts to what is going on?  I have other co-workers who want to upgrade.  Do they need to uninstall the old version first?

Thanks for your help,
Austin

  • Hi Austin,

many thanks for the logs, we will have a look.

Did you have an antivirus program turned on?

Are you using directories with no spaces, or accented/special characters?

When you installed fresh, did everything go ok?

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  • Austin,

Based on the log info you have posted, I believe there has been some Eclipse p2 metadata corruption that is causing the Eclipse feature updates to fail. I don't yet know of any way to correct this beyond a full install of v5.2.0.

  • Lisa,

Yes, both of us did have Symantec anti-virus on, though we have not had an issue between Symantec and other CCS versions.

Yes, we are using directories with no spaces nor special characters.

With a fresh install, everything installed correctly.  Before re-installing, I deleted the left over contents in the C:\ti folder and everything worked fine.  My co-worker found that after uninstalling CCS, the C:\ti\ccsv5\eclipse folder still existed.  When he tried to re-install, he got the same error as before.  Once he deleted the entire ccsv5 folder (including the eclipse folder) the installer worked just fine and he didn't receive any errors.

    Andy,

Thanks for looking at the log.  I guess I will instruct my co-workers to uninstall CCS and delete the C:\ti folder before upgrading to CCS v5.2.0.  Let me know if you find any thing else interesting.

    Thanks again,
    Austin
