CCS5 (free licence) Enable Silicon real time mode and Enable Polite real time mode are greyed out

We currently run a DSP course at Imperial College using Code Composer Studio (CCS) with some DSK6713 boards and I am updating the CCS4 based laboratory assignments to work with CCS5.

I am trying to get the variables in the expressions window to update values in the program whilst the program is running. I managed to get this to work in CCS4 by editing some debugger options (the real time ones), however when I look at the"real time" icons in the tool-bar in CCS5 the options are greyed out .

Can you help me sort this?

    Hi Daniel,

    have you tried continuous refresh? Do you have the MCSDK installed? (You can check this in Window->Preferences->Code Composer Studio->Build->RTSC->Products)

    the quick response is much appreciated!

    The continuous refresh doesn't work

    I have the following tools (but no MCSDK):

    DSP/BIOS

    Grace (MSP430)

    Inter-processor communication

    SYS/BIOS

    System Analyser (UIA Target)

    XDAIS

    XDC tools

    how do I load the MCSDK tool? Is it perhaps because I'm using the free licence that I haven't got it?

    Hi Danny,

    you should install the MCSDK.  Should be able to do this via the updat in CCS or simply download it from the TI website.  Go to ti.com and search MCSDK:

    Daniel,

    I am facing the same problem here. Have you found the settings that allow realtime debug mode in the meantime - if yes I would be happy to know the details. I guess the solutions proposed from LisaTI won't work since MCSDK does not support C2000 cores as far as I understand.

    I want to use enable real-time mode to monitor the watch variables as they are changing.But the icon is greyed out.How to solve the problem?

    Hi Xing,

    you are very lucky I managed to catch this.  Could you please do the following.  Could you put your question with appropriate details (target, CCS version , mcsdk installed?, what have tried?, are you in a debug session?).

    It is not easy for us to track new questions when attached to old posts like this.

    I am using MSP 430G2551 launchpad and CCSV5. I checked RTSC-product and found GRACE,SYS/BIOS and XDC tools.Which version of MCSDK do I have to install?

    Hi Danny,

    I am also working with CCS V5, DRV8301-Rm48 Kit at technical University of Munich. So I also faced the same problem, "real time" icons in the tool-bar in CCS5 the options are greyed out and I can not realize a continuous refresh mode to graph the actual values.  did you solve the problem, achived to install MCSDK ?
