CCS5.3 wont fully enter debug with C2000 LaunchPadXL on Win8

Hi 

I have CCS 5.3.0.00090 installed on win8

I am now trying to use CCS with the LaunchPad XL. When I first plugged the LPXL in the pre-loaded demo program ran perfectly.

I tried to load on the blinking LED program several times with no success.The build seems to run OK but when the debug button is pushed in CCS the progress window shows the expected operations (i.e. launching, debug, erasing sectors, loading program, loading symols, etc) and finishes without error.

But then nothing happens! The debug view is not fully loaded, the run, stop, step buttons and so on are not enabled, the disassembly remains blank showing "No debug context" and the debug session cannot be terminated except by removing the USB connection to the device!

I have used the test configuration function to test the target configuration and it reports no errors.

I have tried also with an F28027 ControlSTICK with the same issues.

Any way I can fix this or find more info on what is happening? As I say no errors are reported in the CCS GUI as far as I can see...

EDIT: CCS4.2 loads a debug session of blinkingLED to both the controlstick and LP XL correctly on the same system...though I cannot reload the demo LP XL program as CCS fails to import the project "there is no managed make file"...

    Hi Toby,

    do you see this every ccs launch?  One thing that might help isolate the issue is if you would be able to enable error logging to send us any error logs or dump files (.dmp) created.

    One note is that while we expect Win 8 compatibility going forward, it is still under test/official support coming.  However, we have had many customers start using it successfully.  Also it might be good to check for things like interference due to permissions/antivirus.

    Thanks for your reply. Yes this is with every CCS v5 launch (I have the v4 install on the same pc with no issues so far)

    Appreciate that its not official for win8 compatibility yet but I have tried building the LP XL demo project in CCS v4 and have a load of linker errors etc that need macros and whatnot setting up - I can do most of this if I need to but Id rather get v5 working if possible.

    I have an inkling I previously had V5 working loading the blinkingLED onto the Stick but not sure.

    Have attached the Eclipse Log .log file and the Debug Server .log and will try again with AV disabled soon and let you know if there is any change.

    I tried to check the Debug Server Dump .dmp but when I click the view button in the Help>CCS Support dialog for the Dump it just opens a directory called dmp located at C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\.TI\693494126\0\dmp

    Hi Lisa,

    As some of the logged errors occurred at launch I guessed the IDE itself was having some major issues and went for a reinstall.

    I have solved the issues I was seeing performing a complete uninstall of ccs4, ccs5, spectrum, blackhawk and controlsuite etc (plus a registry and remaining file clean) and reinstalling ccs5 and control suite from scratch.

    Everything seems to be working fine now, though whether this is due to the clean install or because the system is not running ccs4 and 5 side by side anymore, Im not sure...
