Connect to PRSC failed error

Hello!
I have a problem trying to connect Texas Instruments Code Composer Studio 5 with TMDSEVM6670 TMS320C6670 evaluation board. I've tried to use Blackhawk XDS 560 v2 System Trace and Blackhawk USB510L. In both situations I get an error 'Error connecting to the target: Connect to PRSC Failed' and can't establish connection with board. I've tried to install different versions of CCS and drivers for emulators under Windows 7, Windows XP and Ubuntu. By the way It happens only with this board (I can connect to many other boards using those emulators). It seems strange to me, because when I use XDS 100 on board emulator or Black Hawk BH-LAN 560 emulator and the same Code Composer Studio I can connect to the board and it works fine with it. Are there any known issues with compatibility? Could you suggest a solution to work with this board using Blackhawk XDS 560 v2 System Trace and Blackhawk USB510L emulators? I will appreciate any help.

I've tried CCS v5 that was delivered with the board and also CCS 5.3. In both situations I got the same error.

I was able to locate a C6678 EVM which is the same EVM design but with a C6678 (8 core device) instead of a C6670. The debug logic on the devices is the same

The tests below are with CCSv5.4 which does have newer JTAG emulation software. I am in the process of installing 5.3 on this machine.

I can connect with the onboard xds100v1 ok:

I also tried a BH 560v2 (USB). It took me a little while to get windows to detect the emulator but once that was done I ran the Test connection feature (if you open the ccxml file you can use that) and that looked ok. I then launched the debugger and I was able to connect ok.

With an Spectrum Digital XDS560v2 STM Traveller it was ok as well:

I have a BH510L as well. Do you have an adapter that connects the 14pin cable on the 510L to the 60pin header on the EVM? I.e. something like this: http://www.blackhawk-dsp.com/products/PinConverters.aspx#14e_TI-60t_TI

Usually when we get PRSC errors they turn out to be an issue with the way things are connected on a custom board.

However in your case you are using a standard EVM so that should not be the case.

5.3 is working for me as well. When you say you are able to use other boards are those also C6670 EVMs, i.e. it is only the one C6670 EVM that is having issues? If that is the case it seems like the issue is with getting the signals out to the JTAG header on the board. You could try clocking down the JTAG clock. Open your ccxml file. Click on the advanced tab. Selec the emulator in the tree on the left and then on the right you can adjust the properties. Try 1 or 2 MHz. The XDS100 operates in that range, the others could be trying up to 35MHz.
