CCS 5.5 sometimes hang when running A15 code

Guru* 95265 points

I have some ARM A15 code built with CCS 5.5/BIOS/XDC, running on K2H EVM. When load the code and run using CCS 5.4, there is no problem to halt the ARM core, read memory, check expression window and so on. However, when load and run the same code using CCS 5.5, I sometimes can't halt the ARM core (JTAG failure).

  • This issue is being handled offline.

  • This issue was resolved offline. The issue was with a known bug in the debug server that comes with CCSv5.5. Updating the debug server will resolve the issue. To do this:

    1. Start CCS, and go to Help -> Install new software
    2. In the “Work with” edit box at the top, enter http://software-dl.ti.com/ccs/non-esd/debugserver/55
    3. Select the “TI Debug Server Update for CCSv5.5” box.
    4. Optionally: to speed the install up, you can uncheck the “Contact all update sites during the install to find required software” box
    5. Click through the install questions and let CCS restart. This should install DS version 5.5.0.487

    Thanks

  • I just ran this procedure on my fresh CCS 5.5 install, and now I cannot start CCS and it errors out. Now I am not sure how to recover?
