MSP430F1611 and CCS debugging problem

Hi, I have a problem running the firmware on msp430f1611 under CCS version 5.5.0.00077

compiler version: TI v4.2.1.

When I load the firmware always pops up the message MSP430: Error connecting to the target: Unknown device). But after pushing the button "retry" loading works .

When I am trying to stop (suspend) the running firmware my debugger stops,

but the micro still running and all data in the debugger is wrong (message is: MSP430: Trouble Halting Target CPU: Internal error). Sometimes this command works, but most of the times - no. Else I can't reset the firmware (message: MSP430: Failed Soft reset: Could not reset device).

Note:

I use the same version of CCS with msp430f5418a without any problem.

I will appreciate for any help.

Has the connection to this target board ever worked reliably with CCS? If not, then I suspect it might be more of a defective device/hardware/target board issue rather than a CCS or FET issue. Similar errors have been reported on the forums (please see links below), which you can take a look at, if you haven't already. They may give you some additional ideas for troubleshooting.

Unfortunately this is not my case. As I mentioned the debugger sometimes works fine, but most of the times doesn’t. I double checked every position in the settings and didn't find any errors. Is it possible MSP430F1611 not compatible with latest version of CCS - 5.5.0.00077?

I'm not certain, but it wouldn't hurt to give CCS 6.0.1 a try if the CCS version is in doubt (although I doubt that is the cause of the errors). You can download and install CCS 6.0.1 along side your existing CCS 5.5. Just install it to a different folder.
