Unable to download code from CCS to launch pad/firmware update error for XDS110 probe

Hi,

I tried downloading a program from CCS to the MSP432 launchpad and encountered the following error:

"Error -263 @0x0

Incompatible XDS110 firmware detected. The firmware version of the connected XDS110 debug probe does not match the expected version. Please update the firmware using the xdsdfu utility found in ../ccs_base/common/uscif/xds110 directory of your installation."

I tried to update the firmware using the xdsdfu tool at the following location:

C:\ti\ccsv6\ccs_base\common\uscif\xds110

I tried to follow the instructions in the readme file in order to update the XDS110 probe firmware. At this point, I have the Launchpad connected to the computer.

I run the commands as instructed on a command prompt. This is what I see on command prompt when I run the second command mentioned in the read me file:

"xdsdfu -f firmware.bin -r

Scanning USB buses for supported XDS110 devices ...

The request device was not found on the bus."

At this point I am stuck.

Any help to fix the XDS110 firmware update error would be appreciated.

Thanks

Jeet

  • Hi Jeet,
Did you wait a bit after the first command (xdsdfu -m) to allow time for the device to re-enumerate before running the second? If you don't, then the device will not be detected and you would get an error along the lines of what you reported.

    Thanks

  • Hi Ki,

    Thanks for the reply.

I did wait atleast 10 sec before sending the second command. It did not work.

I was also able to see the device in the device manager. So, I assume the device is detected.
