CCS Uniflash v3.4 installation failure - Error reading Zip file

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH

G'Day all,

I'm having trouble installing CCS Uniflash on my Windows7 64bit machine.  I have CCS6.1 installed if that matters.
I have already tried turning off Antivirus.  Have tried running as administrator.  Have tried installing in a different directory.

The screen shot below gives the specific error, and I've attached the log file generated by the installer.

The installer erases the installation directory when the error occurs so I can't retreive any logs or anything that may exist in there.

Cheers

Julian

  • Hi Julian,

Could you please try downloading and installing again? It looks like the installer was unable to access the zip file it needed.

    Thanks

    Danish

  • G'Day Danish,

I've downloaded again and still get the same error.

When I start the installer, it creates the directory C:/Users/USERNAME/AppData/Local/Temp/uniflash..... and starts writing files into there (build.properties, proxyfinder.exe, rndisintall.exe, uniflash.bat).

It even creates a file called UniFlash_Win_Build_0.0.1.2869.zip once the install process starts, though it never seems to be more than 0 bytes long.

As soon as the error occurs this folder is deleted so I don't get the chance to see if the.zip is corrupt.

I watched what the installer was doing using Sysinternals Process Monitor, and it looks like the installer is able to read at least part of the zip file and it seems to start putting files into the install directory (but that also is deleted when the error occurs)

I was wondering whether the problem could be that some part of the installer doesn't like spaces in file name. The part that is blocked out in the above screen grab is my login name for this PC, and it has a space. This is a work PC so I can't control my user name, log in as another use or create a new user with no spaces. So, if the problem is spaces in file names, what alternative do I have to Uniflash?

    Cheers
    Julian
  • G'Day again Danish,

I've just tried to install from the v3.4.0_00003 Offline installer rather than the web installer.

This gets a little further but still fails.

The installation gives up when it reaches installation of the V++ 2008 Redistributable per the screenshot below.

This appears to be the same problem as here.  I am installing as administrator, anti virus is disabled, this is not an "over-install" (there is no uniflash directory in c:\ti).  I have the 2005, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013 redistributables installed (presumably came along with Visual Studio).  I am not able to uninstall Visiual Studio to install UniFlash.

I've tried installing Uniflash 3.1 which others have reported more success with.  That seems to install ok.  While trying to install the 2008 redistributable it gave the error "Error 1316: The specified account already exists" but that didn't halt the installation.

I'll use v3.1 for the time being, start a separate thread if I have any problems with it.

Shame I can't get the latest Uniflash to go....

    Cheers

    Julian

  • Hi

I also met this issue by using the uniflash_setup_3.4.1.00012.exe with Windows 7 32bit machine.

    Does anyone resolve this issue?

    Best regards.
